Choco-licious Mug Cake -- How to make the Best Chocolate Mug Cake!
Updated: Jun 20, 2021
Sometimes I want something chocolate-y but don't want to make a whole cake for fear that I might eat the entire thing, so instead, I opt for an individual chocolate cake...in a mug!

This recipe is made with ingredients you most likely already have in your pantry so you can make it any time! And it's quick and easy too.
Garnish with white chocolate and milk chocolate chips, some fresh colorful fruit, (clementine, raspberries, or strawberries) for a pop of color... and don't forget to make your own whipped cream (recipe included for that too!)... nothing beats fresh!
Ingredients for Chocolate Mug Cake
1 coffee mug
spray oil
4 tablespoons plain flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
handful of nuts (walnuts, pistachios, etc, optional)
small splash of vanilla extract
fresh fruit: strawberries, raspberries, clementine (optional)
fresh mint (optional)

Directions
Spray inside of mug with spray oil and add dry ingredients into the mug and mix well with a fork.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Mix in the milk and oil. Add the chocolate chips (or nuts if using either) and vanilla and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 2.5 minutes. The cake will rise over the top of the mug so don't be alarmed! (place a paper plate under mug before cooking for easier clean-up).
Allow to cool and tip onto a plate. Garnish with fresh whipped cream (see recipe below) and fresh fruit or mint if desired.

Ingredients for Fresh Whipped Cream
1 container of heavy whipping cream
powdered sugar
vanilla extract
Directions
With an electric mixer or a hand mixer, beat the heavy cream until it becomes a thick consistency and that it makes a "peak" when you pull out the beaters. While you are beating the heavy cream, sprinkle in some powdered sugar and add a few dashes of vanilla extract.
Make sure you test a little off of a spoon before you are done... I like it with just a touch of sweetness and vanilla, the sweetness level is up to you!
